This newspaper book on the Miami Dolphins begins in August 1965 when Miami was awarded the AFL franchise. After that, there’s coverage of the Dolphins’ first win in October 1966, with a 24-7 victory over the Denver Broncos, along with coverage of 1967’s barnstorming 41-24 mauling of the San Diego Chargers.
Thereafter, the team’s biggest successes all appear, thus creating a fantastic reportage history for any diehard Dolphins’ fan. Included in this is the team’s first Super Bowl appearance in 1971’s Super Bowl VI, which ended in a 24-3 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys.
Coverage of the 1972 season features heavily and includes plenty of reports on the team’s perfect 17-0-season that culminated in victory over the Redskins at Super Bowl VII. The Dolphins’ 1973 season also receives lots of focus, with the Super Bowl VIII win over the Vikings covered in depth.
Numerous other big games and seasons are featured throughout the proceeding decades, along with ample coverage of the exploits of Dan Marino, who became one of the most prolific passers in NFL history. He led the Dolphins to five division titles, ten playoff appearances and Super Bowl XIX, all of which are included in the book.
As for the book itself, it measures in at an impressive 12.5 x 15 inches, bound in a burnt sienna cover. Made with an antique-style finish, the cover beautifully contrasts the book’s originally reported black and white content, for the ultimate Miami Dolphins memorabilia.
